L Double, born Lee Johnson, is a prominent British DJ and producer from the north east of England who has been a key figure in the drum and bass scene since the early 1990s. He was instrumental in pioneering the early jungle sound, initially gaining success as part of the group Unique 3, which had three UK Top 30 hits. His musical style is characterised by its focus on underground drum and bass. In the mid-1990s, Johnson founded Flex Records as a platform for this sound.

Throughout his career, L Double has been responsible for a number of influential releases on his Flex Records label, including iconic tracks such as "Bass 2 Dark", "The Mad Phunk", and "Music for the 90's". He is also credited with pioneering the "DoubleDrop" style of mixing. His contributions to the scene extend beyond production; he was the first DJ to broadcast on BBC Radio 1Xtra and was involved in establishing the first official UK Jungle / Drum and Bass chart. His collaborations include work with artists such as DJ Sappo and Dungeon Master.
