Amira Rasheed, known professionally as Amira, is an American dance music singer best known for My Desire, a collaboration with house music group Blaze. The track reached number one on the UK Dance Singles Chart in December 1997 and climbed back to the top of the chart in January 1998. My Desire charted three times on the UK Singles Chart, achieving its highest peak position of number 20 in 2001. A UK garage remix of the track by Dreem Teem was included in Capital Xtra's list of "The Best Old-School Garage Anthems of All Time".
Amira's recording career began in 1996 with Walk, released on Slip 'n' Slide, which reached number 97 on the UK Singles Chart and number 8 on the UK Dance Singles Chart. The same year she released Getaway on Easy Street Records. What Is Love, a collaboration with Cassio & the Funky People, followed in 1997 on Easy Street Records. After the success of My Desire, Amira released Why Is It Wrong to Love You in 2000 on VC Recordings and Slip 'n' Slide. Her final charting single was I Think of You, a collaboration with Blaze released in 2003 on Slip 'n' Slide, which reached number 28 on the UK Dance Singles Chart.
