Artist Biography

Aluna Francis (born 2 July 1983 in Wales) is a British electronic music producer and singer-songwriter from London. Raised between New Jersey and London after her parents' separation, Francis initially gained recognition as the vocal and compositional half of the electronic duo AlunaGeorge with producer George Reid, whom she met in 2009 when Reid remixed her band My Toys Like Me's track "Sweetheart". Working within electronic, dance, and left-field pop, Francis has become known for her distinctive vocal delivery and commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices within dance music. Her solo career began in 2020 following AlunaGeorge's indefinite hiatus in 2019.
As AlunaGeorge, Francis released debut single "You Know You Like It" in 2012, followed by first commercial single "Your Drums, Your Love" (2012), which peaked at number 50 on the UK Singles Chart and earned the duo a Critics' Choice nomination at the 2013 BRIT Awards. The album Body Music was released in July 2013 via Island Records. After signing with Interscope Records in 2015, AlunaGeorge released I Remember (2016), featuring collaborations with Popcaan on "I'm in Control". The duo served as opening act for Sia's North American arena tour and Coldplay's European leg of A Head Full of Dreams Tour in 2017. Francis' solo debut album Renaissance (2020) via Mad Decent expanded into trap-R&B, dancehall, and Afropop. In 2022, she earned a Grammy nomination for "Forget About Me" with Diplo, Kelli-Leigh, and Durante. Her 2023 collaboration "Inhale Exhale" with Skrillex and Kito achieved chart success, and her sophomore solo album MYCELiUM (July 2023) on Mad Decent featured an expansive roster of collaborators including Tchami, Chris Lake, TSHA, Jayda G, and Pabllo Vittar, with the single "Running Blind" (featuring Tchami and Kareen Lomax) reaching number one on Billboard's Dance Mix/Show Airplay chart.
