Alexander Popov (full name: Aleksandr Vitalyevich Popov) is a Russian DJ and record producer born in 1986 in Saratov. Specializing in progressive house, trance, and techno, Popov has established himself as a prominent figure in the global electronic dance music scene. He has performed across more than 40 countries on five continents at major venues including Ushuaia, Hi Ibiza, and Exchange LA. Ranked in the TOP150 DJs globally by DJMag multiple times, including 2021, Popov earned an IDMA Award nomination and was recognized in the TOP100 best producers worldwide by 1001tracklists in 2021.
Popov began his professional career as a DJ in 2004, transitioning to production in 2007 with tracks like Vapour. His early instrumental works gained recognition from DJs including Tiësto and Paul van Dyk, with releases on labels such as VANDIT, Five AM, and Monster Tunes. Notably, Popov has collaborated with major artists including Armin van Buuren, Dash Berlin, Cosmic Gate, and Paul Oakenfold. In 2017, he founded Interplay Records, initially as a sublabel of Armada Music, which has since become an independent operation based in Moscow specializing in progressive and trance music. Over his career, Popov has released more than 200 tracks accumulating over 100 million Spotify streams, including notable releases Intention (2018), When the Sun (2012), Lost Language (2013), and collaborations such as Steal You Away with Dash Berlin (2013).
