Alex Pfeffer (born 1975 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany) is a composer and sound designer specializing in video game soundtracks, film trailers, and production library music. Based in Hamburg, Germany, Pfeffer blends orchestral, rock, and hybrid electronic elements in his compositions. With over 20 years of professional experience in the music industry, he has contributed to numerous award-winning video game releases and motion picture trailers across major media platforms.
Pfeffer joined the German audio production company Dynamedion in 2005, establishing himself as a prolific video game composer with credits on Wolfenstein: The New Order (2014), Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (2017), Galaxy on Fire 3: Manticore (2016), and numerous other titles including Crysis 2, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Company of Heroes 3, and the Sacred series. In 2009, he began arranging and co-writing with producer Frank Peterson, contributing to projects with Sarah Brightman (Hymn album) and Gregorian (Winter Chants, Masters of Chant 9, The Dark Side of the Chant, Masters of Chant 7). Pfeffer composed the Solaris album for Two Steps from Hell in 2013 and later the Chaos Theory album in 2020, both released under the label's Industry imprint. His trailer music has been featured in major film marketing campaigns for Pacific Rim, Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and Ender's Game, with his compositions licensed across more than 60 television productions globally. Beyond composing, he founded the Audio Artist Academy to mentor aspiring composers in building sustainable careers within the game, trailer, and media music industries.
