Serhat, born Ahmet Serhat Hacıpaşalıoğlu on 24 October 1964 in Istanbul, Turkey, is a Turkish singer, songwriter, producer and television presenter. After completing studies in dentistry at the University of Istanbul, he established his production company End Productions in 1994, initially focusing on television work including producing and hosting the quiz show Riziko! (Turkish version of Jeopardy!) on TRT. His musical career began in 1997 with the single "Rüya-Ben Bir Daha", while simultaneously maintaining his television production activities throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
Throughout his recording career, Serhat has released numerous singles frequently featuring international collaborations. These include "Total Disguise" with Viktor Lazlo (2004), "Chocolate Flavour" (2005), and multiple duets with Russian mezzo-soprano Tamara Gverdtsiteli: "I Was So Lonely", "No No Never (Moscow-Istanbul)" and "Ya + Ty" (2008). His 2014 single "Je m'adore" achieved chart success across Germany, France, UK and Switzerland. Serhat gained international recognition through Eurovision Song Contest participation, representing San Marino in 2016 with "I Didn't Know" and again in 2019 with "Say Na Na Na". The disco version of "I Didn't Know" featuring Martha Wash (2017) reached number 25 on the US Dance Club Songs chart, making him the first Turkish singer to chart on this list. His 2019 Eurovision entry "Say Na Na Na" resulted in San Marino's best-ever Eurovision placement at 19th in the final with 77 points, with German-language and Spanish-language versions released in 2019 and 2020 respectively. He has also recorded versions of "Total Disguise" with Helena Paparizou (2018).
