Raised listening to Diana Ross and Method Man, she began performing arts classes at age three and received voice training from her godmother Cydney Davis, a former background vocalist for Marvin Gaye. She launched her professional career in the late 1990s as a songwriter for local Los Angeles hip-hop acts including The Pharcyde and South Central Cartel before collaborating with emerging rapper Eminem, earning the nickname The Track 13 Girl for her featured vocal appearances positioned as the 13th track on multiple Eminem albums.
Rae's breakthrough collaboration with Eminem included featured vocals on Cum on Everybody from The Slim Shady LP (1999), Drug Ballad from The Marshall Mathers LP (2000), and Superman from The Eminem Show (2002). She performed Superman on the Anger Management Tour in summer 2002 before audiences exceeding 30,000 nightly. She also appeared on D12's Pimp Like Me from Devil's Night (2001) and Bitch from D12 World (2004), plus Obie Trice's Switched Up (2006), a tribute to D12 member Proof. Following these collaborations on albums selling over 30 million units worldwide, she signed a solo deal with Motown Records, producing Scott Storch-helmed singles And? and Can't Even C It. She worked as a radio personality for KJLH 102.3 and collaborated on the One of a Million album with Lauren Evans in 2019, while continuing to produce music and appear on tracks with various artists.
