Katherine Ellis (born Katherine Jane Margaret Wood on 21 June 1965 in Bromley, England) is an English electronica vocalist and songwriter specializing in house music. Active since 1990, she has been a mainstay of the house music genre and is also a member of the band Bimbo Jones. From 1997 to 2000, Ellis served as vocalist for Ruff Driverz, performing on tracks including "Deeper Love," "Don't Stop," "Shame," and the international hit "Dreaming", which she also wrote under the alias Arrola.
Ellis has collaborated with prominent dance music producers including Freemasons, Soul Avengerz, Dave Lee, Roger Sanchez, Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes, Lee Coombs and Tom Stephan. Her collaboration with Freemasons on "When You Touch Me" became a worldwide number one hit in over 12 countries and reached number one on the Billboard Dance chart, while "Tears" with Freemasons also achieved chart success. As a member of Bimbo Jones, she released two albums featuring the tracks "And I Try" and "Harlem One Stop," and sang the title track of the Oscar and BAFTA-winning film "Gravity". Her touring credits include performances with Belinda Carlisle, Chaka Khan, Boy George and Roger Sanchez.
