Noonie Bao, born Jonnali Mikaela Parmenius on August 9, 1987, in Stockholm, Sweden, is a singer, songwriter, and record producer who has become one of the most sought-after pop songwriters of the past decade. Starting her musical journey as a child in choirs and beginning to write songs at age 12, she briefly attended the Royal College of Music in Stockholm before moving to Switzerland and Paris to develop her production skills. After returning to Stockholm, she signed with EMI as a songwriter and founded her own label, 2many Freckles, producing tracks for artists including Tove Styrke, Clean Bandit, and Adiam Dymott. Her breakthrough came with co-writing and providing uncredited vocals on Avicii and Nicky Romero's chart-topping single "I Could Be the One" in 2013.
Bao released her debut album I Am Noonie Bao in 2012, showcasing an indie pop and folk sound, and was nominated for a Grammis award for Best New Artist in 2013. She has since evolved into a prolific pop songwriter, co-writing major hits including Charli XCX's "Doing It" which peaked at number eight on the UK singles chart. Her extensive collaborations with Charli XCX include the majority of the Vroom Vroom EP and tracks from the mixtape Number 1 Angel, and she inspired the song "I Think About It All the Time" from Charli's brat album. With over 16 billion streams across her releases, Bao has written for an impressive roster including Katy Perry, Zara Larsson, Camila Cabello, Zedd, Kygo, David Guetta, Alesso, Carly Rae Jepsen, and many others, earning her Swedish Music Publishers' Songwriter of the Year award in 2017.
