Maleek Berry, born Maleek Shoyebi on 11 August 1987 in South London, United Kingdom, is a British-Nigerian record producer and recording artist known for his percussive, melodic Afrobeats sound. He broke into the spotlight in 2012 and was nominated as Music Producer of the Year at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2013, he became an in-house producer for Wizkid's Starboy Entertainment, where he crafted productions that blended African-inspired melodies with contemporary dance-pop sensibilities. His production work has included collaborations with prominent artists such as Wizkid, Davido, Wale, Fuse ODG, Runtown and Iyanya.
Berry was nominated in the Best Male category at the 2017 MOBO Awards, marking his transition from behind-the-scenes producer to frontline artist. He released the EP Last Daze of Summer in 2016 under his own Berry's Room imprint, followed by First Daze of Winter in early 2018, both showcasing his ability to craft breezy, Caribbean-influenced Afropop tracks. His breakout single "Kontrol" helped establish him as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Afrobeats, with his music characterized by sunny melodies designed for both dancing and romantic settings. Berry has continued to balance his dual roles as producer and performer, maintaining influence across the African and diaspora music scenes.
