Nadia Rose (born 11 June 1993) is a British rapper and songwriter from Croydon, South London, who emerged as one of the most distinctive voices in UK hip hop during the mid-2010s. Born on 11 June 1993, she studied Music and Music Management at university and was brought up in Croydon, South London, where her early influences came from her father's eclectic record collection, which covered everything from dancehall and reggae to the Spice Girls. Known for her sharp rhymes, witty wordplay, and confident delivery, Rose is notably the cousin of grime superstar Stormzy, and began MCing at age 13, quickly becoming accustomed to holding her own during rap battles with "the lads" outside her council estate.
Rose gained significant attention after opening for legendary rapper Busta Rhymes at major UK music festivals, and has performed alongside Section Boyz and Anderson .Paak. Her breakthrough came with viral single "D.F.W.T" and subsequent tracks "Station" and "BOOM," leading to her debut EP Highly Flammable released on Relentless Records in January 2017. She came fifth in the BBC's 'Sound of 2017' shortlist and in 2018 released the track "WUT2" and appeared in a Stella McCartney catwalk show in Milan. Despite her early success and representation by Sony Music Group subsidiary Relentless Records, Rose revealed in 2020 that she had been unable to release new music because of her label, though she continues to make selective appearances and collaborations in the UK music scene.
