Rochelle Karima Jordan (born October 21, 1989) is a British-Canadian singer-songwriter of Jamaican descent, based in Toronto, known for her pioneering role in alternative and futuristic R&B. Born in London, she grew up in Toronto, shaped by her brother’s music (house, drum’n’bass, garage) and her drummer father’s love for northern soul, reggae, and dancehall. These influences define her unique sound, blending soulful R&B, trap soul, and UK bass/electronic elements.

She launched her career with the EP ROJO (2011), followed by Pressure (2012), and gained recognition with her debut album 1021 (2014), recorded in her bedroom. This project earned her acclaim, including a collaboration with Childish Gambino on his Grammy-nominated Because the Internet (2013), co-writing and performing on “Telegraph Ave.” Her single “Follow Me” topped Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart in 2014. She has worked with producers like Illangelo (Drake, The Weeknd) and KLSH, and contributed vocals to Adult Swim’s Black Dynamite series.

After a period of spiritual and artistic reflection and a move to Los Angeles, Jordan released Play with the Changes (2021), a critically praised album fusing ancestral R&B with futuristic house, garage, and drum’n’bass. The 2022 PWTC Remixed featured reworks by Kaytranada, Machinedrum, and Sango, cementing her innovative status. She has collaborated with producers like Jimmy Edgar (J-E-T-S) and released singles such as “What You Done” with Snakehips (2023), “Promises” with Keys n Krates (2023), and “Crave” with Logic1000 (2024). In 2025, Jordan remains a dynamic force, celebrated for her authenticity and bold, genre-defying approach to R&B.
