Artist BiographyAvailable in:

Jae Stephens, born Jordan Stephens on July 18, 1997, in Dallas, Texas, is an American R&B, pop, and dance-pop singer, songwriter, and producer now based in Los Angeles, California. Known for her bold, confident style and fiercely independent approach, she made waves at 21 with her self-produced debut EP, f**k it I’ll do it myself (2019), where she wrote and produced every track, showcasing her refusal to be boxed into a single genre. Inspired as a teenager by artists like Lorde—whose hit Royals sparked her first song—Jae built a dedicated following on Tumblr, amassing over 200,000 followers with covers and personal posts.
After a two-year hiatus, Jae relaunched her career in 2023 through Raedio’s creator campaign (Issa Rae’s label, partnered with Atlantic Records), securing a deal that led to her EP High My Name Is. Featuring standout tracks like What’s A Monday and Come and Talk to Me (a Jodeci-inspired cover), the project racked up over a million streams, driven by fan support. In 2024, she signed with Def Jam as Raedio’s first major artist, releasing the EP SELLOUT and the single Body Favors, paired with a vibrant, playful music video highlighting her quirky, cool aesthetic.
Beyond her own music, Jae has co-written for major artists like Jennifer Lopez (Rebound), Latto, Anne-Marie, and Blessing Offor (for his Grammy-nominated album My Tribe). She’s also ventured into acting, appearing in projects like All Over Again (2022) and Jennifer Lopez: Rebound (2024). Jae Stephens represents a new wave of R&B artists, blending fresh sounds, striking visuals, and a fearless approach to carving her own path in the music industry.
