Formed as a three-piece in 2007, LOMMI rose from the heavy metal underground of Gothenburg, Sweden.
The name LOMMI was inspired by a childhood mispronunciation of “Iommi” (as in Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath), leading to a joking but fitting moniker that stuck after their first studio session.
Dennis Österdal and Jörgen Tjusling have known each other since 1986 through various bands. Jens Florén and Dennis connected in 1991; by 2007, jam sessions led naturally to forming LOMMI.
LOMMI delivers a powerful hybrid of traditional heavy metal, groove, stoner doom, and a rich dose of riff-driven dynamics. Their sound intertwines potent influences, pulling from:
Prong, Melvins, Tool, Gojira, System of a Down, Mastodon, Kyuss, among others.
After almost two decades with minimal digital footprint or widespread releases, LOMMI made a roaring return in 2025 with their full-length album “667788”—their most focused, aggressive, and riff-drenched work to date. They synthesize groove-laden structures with doom-laced heaviness and gritty riffs reminiscent of Pantera, High on Fire, The Sword, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Helmet, Prong, Therapy? and more.
