Maria Chiara Argirò (* around 1990 in Rome ) is an Italian jazz musician ( piano , also keyboard , composition ).
Argirò grew up in Rome; her mother, Francesca Falcone, taught dance theory at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza . She sang in a choir and took classical piano lessons. As a teenager, she was open to all kinds of music and at 19 she decided to become a professional musician. She took workshops with Barry Harris and other jazz pianists and learned to play the djembe and dundun . She initially studied music history and ethnomusicology at the Università di Roma (Bachelor's degree cum laude ) and played part-time in the university's jazz ensemble. In 2009, she moved to London to continue her studies at the London College of Creative Media and then to study jazz at Middlesex University with Nikki Iles (Bachelor's degree in 2013). She also spent a few months in New York to continue studying with various pianists.
