Christina "Brave" Williams was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. At age 16, she caught the attention of producer Rich Harrison (known for working with Beyoncé and Amerie) and signed with his label, Richcraft Entertainment, as a solo artist. A year later, she parted ways with the label due to creative differences. After three years of personal and professional growth, she reconnected with Harrison, proposing the idea of forming a girl group, which led to the creation of RichGirl.
In 2007, Brave Williams became a founding member of RichGirl, an R&B girl group formed by Rich Harrison and signed to Richcraft and Jive Records. The group, consisting of Brave Williams, Audra Simmons, Lyndriette Smith, and Amber "Sevyn" Streeter, drew inspiration from acts like Destiny’s Child, TLC, SWV, and En Vogue. Brave was instrumental in shaping the group’s name and concept, emphasizing confidence and talent over materialism. RichGirl began working on a self-titled debut album in 2009, slated for a 2010 release, with promotional singles like "24" (featuring Bun B.) and official singles "He Ain’t Wit Me Now (Tho)" and "Swagger Right". Despite collaborations with top producers like The Underdogs and Bryan-Michael Cox, the album never saw an official release due to lackluster commercial performance. In 2011, the group released a mixtape, Fall in Love with RichGirl, as a free download before quietly disbanding after Jive Records was absorbed by RCA Music Group.
Following RichGirl’s dissolution, Brave Williams focused on her solo career. In 2012, she launched her official website, confirming her departure from the group and announcing her debut solo EP, A Brave New World. On October 30, 2012, she released her first solo single, "I Like It", with its music video premiering on BET’s 106 & Park on January 4, 2013. On May 22, 2013, she released a second single, "It Won’t Stop". Brave is known for her hands-on approach, contributing to songwriting and vocal arrangements while emphasizing themes of empowerment and authenticity. She also ventured into acting, appearing in projects like the soap opera One Life to Live and the film Dreams (2013).
Brave Williams’ music blends R&B, pop, and hip-hop influences, characterized by bold energy and personal lyrics. Her influences include icons like Beyoncé, Toni Braxton, and Michael Jackson, as well as ‘90s girl groups like Destiny’s Child. She prides herself on her involvement in the creative process, from writing to vocal production.
