MJ Lenderman from North Carolina has attracted considerable attention in recent years, both as a member of the band Wednesday and as a solo artist.

His music blends singer-songwriter sensibilities, traditional rock, and compelling indie. His 2022 album, Boat Songs, was well-received by various media outlets and ranked highly on year-end lists by Paste, Stereogum, and others. In September, he released Manning Fireworks. Pitchfork awarded the album the distinction “Best New Music,” noting, “It’s witty and sincere, the mark of a songwriter finding his voice.”

He is highly prolific and has also contributed to the latest album by Waxahatchee.
