Athens-born singer, songwriter, and painter Stella Chronopoulou has spent over a decade turning bedroom demos into one of Greek indie pop's biggest export stories. She started writing music while studying painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts, originally treating it as a side project — but a string of self-released tracks and a breakout 2014 single, "Picking Words," changed that fast, becoming a fixture on Greek radio.
Since then, Σtella has built a sound that blends airy synth-pop, glistening indie melodies, and vintage Greek pop textures, all wrapped in a wistful, romantic undertow. Her catalog spans four studio albums, including 2022's Up and Away and 2025's Adagio — both released via legendary US label Sub Pop. Adagio, written over five years and partly composed on ferry rides through the Greek islands, marked a milestone: her first songs performed in her native Greek.
With millions of streams, festival stages across Europe and beyond, and airplay on tastemaker outlets like BBC Radio 6, Σtella has become one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Greek music — an artist equally at home writing tender, English-language pop and reconnecting with the sounds of home.
