Donald Towe Jones (born January 24, 1932, in Harlem, New York - passed away November 5, 2004, in Amsterdam) was an American-Dutch dancer, actor, and singer.

Biography
Donald Jones became known as the first Black star in the Dutch entertainment industry. Born in the United States, he moved to Amsterdam in 1954 with the dance group "The Moderniques" to pursue his dancing career and escape the racism in his home country. He recalled how he was treated as a novelty in the early years:

"I was an 'oddity.' A strange thing. You could touch it and talk to it. Once, while walking through Leidsestraat, I suddenly felt a hand through my hair. It startled me. It was some girls, they said: 'Sorry sir, we just wanted to feel it'" (interview with De Groene Amsterdammer, 1999).

Jones quickly gained fame in the Netherlands through his numerous appearances in television and cabaret productions. His first engagement was with Sieto and Marijke Hoving in their cabaret group Tingel Tangel. In the late 1950s, he played the role of Dinky, a working student, in the television series Pension Hommeles. In this series, he performed the hit song "Ik zou je het liefste in een doosje willen doen" (I Would Love to Put You in a Little Box), written by Annie M.G. Schmidt and Cor Lemaire.

Donald Jones danced for many years in the Snip en Snap Revue and appeared in the show of André van Duin. He also played a leading role in the children's series Mik & Mak, as the friend of Oma Tingeling's (Grandma Tingeling's) grandson (played by Magda Janssens).

Jones was married for several years to Dutch actress Adèle Bloemendaal. Their son, actor John Jones, was born in 1963.

In November 2004, Donald Jones passed away at the age of 72 due to a heart attack. He was cremated at Westgaarde cemetery.
