Caroline Elizabeth Polachek (born June 20, 1985) is an American singer, songwriter, and producer. She co-founded the indie pop band Chairlift while studying at the University of Colorado. The band emerged from the late-2000s Brooklyn music scene with the sleeper hit "Bruises". After Chairlift disbanded in 2017, Polachek worked on solo projects Ramona Lisa and CEP before embarking on a career under her own name. Her debut studio album, Pang (2019), was released to critical acclaim and featured the popular single "So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings". In 2023, she released the critically acclaimed studio album Desire, I Want to Turn Into You.

Polachek has collaborated with several notable artists, including Blood Orange, Fischerspooner, Sbtrkt, Christine and the Queens, Charli XCX, Grimes, and the British music collective PC Music. She also wrote material for Beyoncé ("No Angel").

She was born in Manhattan, New York City, to a family of musicians and scholars. She spent her early years in Tokyo, Japan, and Greenwich, Connecticut, where she developed her interest in music and started singing in choir from third grade.

Polachek's career began in 2006 with Chairlift and continued with collaborative work with other artists. In 2013, she released a solo album Arcadia under the moniker Ramona Lisa. After Chairlift's disbandment, she released her second solo studio album, Drawing the Target Around the Arrow, under her initials, CEP, in 2017.

In 2019, Polachek released her first single under her full name, "Door", marking the beginning of her solo project, made mostly in collaboration with PC Music member Danny L Harle. This was followed by the release of her studio album Pang and then Desire, I Want to Turn Into You in 2023.

One of her singles from 2021, "Bunny Is a Rider", was ranked at the top of Pitchfork's list of "The 100 Best Songs of 2021". Polachek's unique blend of alternative pop, art pop, indie pop, experimental pop, and avant-pop has cemented her position as a significant figure in contemporary music.
