gap_year was thrown together in 2007 when lead guitarist Yankee, who had been letting off steam in the clubs with djs so far, made up his mind to launch his own music project. With fresh ideas and brand new material, never before playing serious in a band – ‘I didn’t mean to make a fuss only for the fact of playing’ he said, Yankee started searching...and here is where the good shit begins. It wasn't a while longer that gap_year was fully formed. A close friend, ZNA, took position behind the drums. With his former experience in a variety of music genres, he gave us a kick in the ass. The biggest and the heaviest bass guitar went straight to the biggest dude in the band Lypa. Both of them were well-known before from the band called madVISION. Vocals and lyrics... That’s the job for Przem0 who used to dabble in a mixture of music styles, but who has finally found his place in music spreading positive revolt. Last but not least is oBrys - the one living in harmony with the scene, because of ADHD symptoms :P - whom we agreeably entrusted with the second guitar and samples/keys. Chicks are mad about him…
gap_year makes music inspired mainly by Californian punk flavor and the energy flowing with it. Most of all what we play pop punk and our motto is ‘g o o d s h i t’. Currently behind the drums, we’ve got D.I.Y. man Makumba, thanks to whom the place of band’s rehearsal looks as it looks (and one has to admit it DOES look :P). Scribbling quick-and-dirty...that’s the story.
2. Gap Year is an indie pop band from Western Australia. They are not the same band as gap_year, but Last.fm auto-corrects their scrobbles, for some reason, so they end up here and it's quite annoying, really.
