Sonya Belousova (born February 4, 1990) is a Russian-American composer and pianist. She is known as a child prodigy and has won various awards for her compositions and piano playing.
She resides in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Belousova was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. She began playing the piano at the age of five and began composing music at the age of ten under the guidance of Zhanna Metallidi. At the age of eight, she made her stage debut in the Chamber Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic.
Belousova produced the music for the thriller-drama television series The Mist, produced by The Weinstein Company and broadcast on Spike TV. The series is based on Stephen King's horror novel of the same name. Reimagined for television by Christian Torpe, the series stars Frances Conroy, Alyssa Sutherland and Morgan Spector. Belousova has written and produced scores for films that have premiered at South by Southwest, the Cannes International Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival, the Melbourne International Animation Festival, the Chicago International Children's Film Festival, the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and more. Her films include the official selection of SXSW, M.F.A., directed by Natalia Leite, starring Francesca Eastwood and Clifton Collins Jr, and Like Me, starring Addison Timlin and Larry Fessenden; Tribeca's official selection, Two-Bit Waltz, starring Academy Award nominees William H. Macy and David Paymer, Rebecca M. Macy and David Paymer, Rebecca M. Macy and David Paymer. As a recording artist, Sonya can be heard on a variety of soundtracks, including Daniel Licht's Dexter Season 7 or The Witcher.
