Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
In 1981, brothers Lars and Per Mertanen formed the instrumental duo Cláusula Tenebrosa. Shortly after, they started rehearsing with their mutual friend Carlos Entrena at vocals, ex-singer of the then recently split Ejecutivos Agresivos. That same year, with some other friends, they started the independent label Grabaciones Accidentales (GASA), so they could release their own records. A year later, they decided to replace the drum machine by real drums and that's when Jose Brena joined the band.

Their first single "Tan Lejos" was so well received that, months later, Décima Víctima won La Maqueta de Oro (The Golden Demo) award, voted by the listeners of Radio Nacional de España (Spain's national public broadcaster) as one of their 1982's favourite tracks.

The sound, in spite of being played with only three instruments and voice, was as surrounding live as it was on record, thanks to the Mertanen Brothers' playing and having Paco Trinidad as their sound engineer most of the times. Many live shows were in Madrid, but they also played in Barcelona, Vigo, Valencia, Puertollano and Molina de Aragón.

Having recorded a demo for their second LP, the band broke up in friendly terms due to issues concerning their jobs that went beyond their control; there were no musical nor personal differences. Their last show was at Madrid's Rock-Ola on December 3, 1983. A few months later, already disbanded, they recorded their second and last album, "Un Hombre Solo", in the studio. Few subsequent reissues and compilations along the years were released.
