CoreLeoni was founded by Gotthard guitarist Leo Leoni on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the first, self-titled Gotthard album. The aim was to bring the songs from the debut album such as Downtown , Firedance , Higher , Here Comes the Heat and In the Name to new prominence, as these were rarely played live. The band was then signed by Frontiers Music . This is how the first album of the project called The Greatest Hits Part 1 was created with the participation of the current Rainbow singer Ronnie Romero (formerly of Lords of Black ). Even before Romero was hired by Rainbow, Leoni and Romero met in 2014, when Romero's band "Lords of Black" played in the Spanish cities of Bilbao and Barcelona as a support act for Gotthard. The line-up also includes Igor Gianola (ex- UDO , founding member of Alto Voltaggio ), Mila Merker (Soulline) and drummer Hena Habegger from Gotthard. The Album went to #3 in the Swiss charts.
