Marie Modiano, born on September 1, 1978 in Paris, is a French singer and writer.

Her first album I'm Not a Rose, produced and arranged by the composer Grégoire Hetzel was released in 2006 by Naïve.

Outland, her second album was released in 2008.

In the fall of 2013, Marie Modiano released two albums, Ram on a Flag and Espérance Mathématique - the second being a musical setting of her poetry by her partner, Swedish musician Peter Von Poehl - as well as a first novel, Upsilon Scorpii. She has given numerous concerts in France, including opening for Miossec and Dominique A, as well as in Germany, Sweden and Spain.

In 2015, she performs with Peter von Poehl, the song "Side by Side", which is on the soundtrack of the film by Alain Choquart, Lady Grey and writes songs and poems for the show Sur les chemins de Patti Smith that she performs on stage with Peter von Poehl and the American visual artist and musician Jason Glasser in particular at the festival Le marathon des mots in Toulouse and the Philharmonie de Paris. The same year, she performed on the stage of Aventuriers, an electro pop rock festival taking place in Fontenay-sous-Bois.

In 2016, the song "Mirragio" - co-written and performed with Peter von Poehl - is on the soundtrack of Stefano Mordini's film, Pericle il Nero, presented at the Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard selection.

In 2018, she released the album Pauvre Chanson and a collection of poems with the same title.

In December 2019, she created with Peter von Poehl the musical show Songs From The Other Side at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The album from this show, which contains original songs by the duo as well as covers by Beck, Charlie Chaplin, Westside Story and Stevie Wonder, is released on January 29, 2021.
