Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
Born in Schärding am Inn (Austria) in 1966, he received his first piano and organ training there.
Studies at the Vienna University of Music (today the University of Music): Catholic church music and organ with Alfred Mitterhofer (diploma 1993). Harpsichord studies with Matteo Messori, Bologna.
As a continuo player, orchestral musician and soloist on organ, harpsichord, harmonium and fortepiano, he has played with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Concentus Musicus, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra with conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Riccardo Muti, Ivor Bolton, Philipp Jordan and Christian Thielemann and Seiji Ozawa. The wide-ranging repertoire includes baroque, classical and romantic oratorios and operas as well as romantic and modern orchestral works (including Richard Strauss' "Alpine Symphony", "Also Spoke Zarathustra", Saint-Saens "Organ Symphony").
After these diverse activities with orchestras, the preoccupation with early music and historical instruments is now a major focus, whether as a soloist, especially with works by southern German-Austrian composers, or as organist in the dolce risonanza ensemble under Florian Wieninger.
In 2017, she participated in the concert series »Now they sound again« in the Brahms Hall of the Wiener Musikverein, a solo performance in the Mozart Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus (Jeunesse, Haydn / double concerto for violin and organ) as well as various continuo assignments at concerts by the dolce ensemble risonanza focuses on 500 years of the Reformation in Austria, including the Carinthian Summer. Performances at the Dachau Palace Concerts and the Sound Spring Burg Schlaining are planned for 2018, as are solo organ concerts.
