The Morvan Brothers ( Ar Vreudeur Morvan in Breton language ) form a group of Breton singers , three brothers from the village of Botcol, in the town of Saint-Nicodème ( Côtes-d'Armor ). The trio consists of François (born on December 4 , 1923 and dead the May 19 , 2012 ), Henri (born on October 5 , 1931 ) and Yvon (born on September 30 , 1934 ).
Initially, there were four farmers (Yves, born in 1919, died in 1984). The Morvan brothers formed a group of traditional singers in 1958 , with the arrival of the first sonos. The revival of the fest-noz allows them to occur very often during dance evenings. With the Breton wave of the 1970s, they performed throughout the region and on the biggest festival stages. However, they never wanted to leave Brittany and had no children.
They total over 3,000 services . By continuing to provide performances, they transmit their repertoire of Breton songs (around 80) and their singing technique in kan ha diskan ( tiled ) to the youngest, a transmission of oral heritage as they received it. They have received several distinctions for highlighting Breton culture .
