Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
After All is a thrash metal band from Belgium founded in 1987 . Until 1988 they were called the Crap Society and from 1988 to 1990 they were known as At Least .

First beginnings
At the beginning of 1987 guitarist Dries Van Damme and Christophe Depree, together with the brothers Bert and Peter De Meyer, founded the band Crap Society in Bruges . They played together in this constellation until 1988, when Bert De Meyer left the band. As a result, drummer Peter De Meyer switched from drums to bass. This was followed by a new singer and drummer, Wijnand Desreveaux and Chris De Neve. Because of these many changes, the band then renamed themselves At Least .

At Least celebrated their first live appearance in May 1989 together with the metal band Evil Sinner in Koekelare . In the summer of the same year, their first demo, Peace On Earth, appeared .

In 1990 the band finally renamed itself After All after another band from Bruges had also called itself At Least .

The breakthrough
Between September and October 1991 the band recorded four songs in the CCR Studio in Zulte , which were released in the summer of 1992 in the album Dusk , which was limited to 500 copies. Shortly afterwards bassist Peter De Meyer left the band together with Wijnand Desreveaux. The role of the singer was filled with Piet Focroul and bassist Peter was replaced at short notice by Yannic Kermarrec and Joachim Meese, until finally in 1993 he was officially the new bassist.

In 1994 After All won the Rudd Rock Rally and then played in front of 5000 fans at the Rudd Rock Festival. It was the band's first appearance in front of such a large crowd.

In 1995 the band recorded their 2nd album Wonder in the Hype Power Studio in Aalst , which was sold exclusively in Belgium. At the beginning of 1996 After All performed together with Anathema and The Gathering at wide concerts in Belgium. In addition, they played their first concerts in the Netherlands.

Between March 28th and April 28th 1997 After All recorded their 3rd album Transcendent again in the Hype Power Studio. You could buy this, besides Belgium, in Germany , France and Switzerland . The album was so well received that After All put on several shows and concerts with bands like Megadeth , Apocalyptica and Saxon .

In 1998 the band concentrated mainly on writing lyrics as they were looking for their own style to accompany them in their career, and so it came about that in 1998 they rewrote many of their old songs and re-recorded them.

The restart
After All was quiet until 2000, when several record labels, including Cannibaelus Records , contacted the band. The albums No Recollection and Dead Loss were created .

A year later, After All revised their style of music. They wrote even more extreme and heavier songs and thus returned to their beginnings. From March 2002, the band recorded the album Mercury Rising . Drums and bass were recorded in Aalst, guitar and vocals in Spiderhouse Studio in Berlin . The album was released a year later on the Belgian label Mausoleum Records . In the same year drummer Chris De Neve left the band and was replaced by Kevin Strubbe. Despite this setback, After All continued to play concerts with well-known bands such as Exodus and Destruction. At the end of the year they had a total of almost 50 gigs, mainly in Belgium, but also in Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg .

In 2004 After All took up the successor to Mercury Rising , The Vermin Breed , (again) in the Berlin Spiderhouse Studio. Frustrated and angry about the bad marketing by Mausoleum Records, the band started looking for a new label until a year later they signed a contract with the German record label Dockyard 1 , which brought The Vermin Breed onto the market. Then After All started their first two European tours together with Metal Church , Heathen , Tankard and Candlemass and many more.

In 2006 This Violent Decline was released across Europe and the USA and Canada . They also played at big festivals like the German Halloween Smashfest or High Voltage Fest in Belgium. Further concerts, festivals and shows followed between 2007 and 2009. In 2009 the 9th album Cult of Sin was released with 11 songs. The band continued to play according to their concept until finally, in 2010, singer Piet Focroul and bassist Erwin Casier left the band after almost 20 years of working together and finally ended their careers.

Since then the new front man of After All has been Sammy Peleman and the new bass player Frederik Vanmassenhove.
