Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
Formed in Brussels in 1985, The Weathermen began as a satirical project by Jean-Marc Lederman and several collaborators. To gain traction, they initially posed as an enigmatic American duo to secure a deal with Play It Again Sam (PIAS) Records. Their debut 12", "Old Friend Sam," introduced their unique blend of electronic dance music and sharp humor.

The group’s identity solidified with the addition of visual artist Bruce Geduldig (Tuxedomoon), who adopted the persona of a debauched playboy vocalist named Chuck B. Their sound evolved from early alternative electronic experiments into a more polished, satirical take on Electronic Body Music (EBM) and pop. They achieved significant underground success in 1987 with the single "Poison" and the critically acclaimed The Black Album, which combined dark atmospheres with cinematic, William Gibson-esque themes.

After a period of inactivity, the band saw a resurgence in the early 2000s fueled by a new generation of fans and digital distribution. This led to the release of new studio albums Deeper with The Weathermen (2004) and Embedded with The Weathermen (2006). The band remains a cult fixture of the Belgian electronic scene, noted for their ability to blend industrial textures with infectious, ironic pop sensibilities.
