Caspar René Hirschfeld (born May 21, 1965 in Wernigerode ) is a German composer and violinist .
C. René Hirschfeld was born the son of the PhD pedagogue Anette Hirschfeld and the painter Günther Jahn in Wernigerode, where he received his first violin lessons from the age of five at the music school. Already at the age of 9 years he began to compose. He studied from 1982 to 1987 in the subjects composition with Udo Zimmermann and Wilfried Krätzschmar and violin with Christian Redder at the Academy of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden . Until 1989 he was a master student of Udo Zimmermann. Other important mentors included Paul-Heinz Dittrich, Gret Palucca , the dancer Thomas Hartmann and the painterGünter Firit . Hirschfeld is considered one of the most versatile and exciting composers of his generation: driven by his enormous creativity, he was also successful in the 90s as a dancer and performance artist as well as a pianist and song accompanist. Hirschfeld taught from 1987 to 1994 at the Dresden Music Academy and the Academy of Music "Hanns Eisler" Berlin . He also worked for the ACMP Foundation in New York City and the Music Academy Rheinsberg .
Hirschfeld's extensive oeuvre includes music theater, ballets, symphonic music, choral music, chamber music, solo works and songs, as well as tangos and jazz cycles. In 1991, his chamber opera Bianca was premiered at the Salzburg Festival. Since then, his compositions have been performed in numerous countries in Europe as well as in Asia and the USA, including the Dresden Music Festival , Dresden Days of Contemporary Music and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , Leipzig Opera House , Kunstencentrum deSingel in Antwerp, Rustaveli Theater Tbilisi / Georgia, Konzerthaus Berlin , Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris , Concert Hall Dortmund ,Athenaeum Bucharest , the Saxon State Opera Dresden, Opera Bonn and 2005 in the Cathedral of Magdeburg on the occasion of the 1200th anniversary of the city of Magdeburg and award of the Kaiser Otto Prize to Federal President a. D. Richard von Weizsäcker.
