Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
A short-lived comedy group that managed to have a huge hit in the 1980s. Morris Minor and the Majors was the brainchild of Tony Hawks, an English comedian. Hawks named himself Morris Minor and recruited two other comedians (who went by the names Rusty Wing and Phil Errup). The group recorded and released "Stutter Rap (No Sleep Til Bedtime)" in 1987. Essentially a parody of the Beastie Boys hits "Fight for Your Right" and "No Sleep Til Brooklyn," "Stutter Rap" became a number one hit in Australia and reached number four in the U.K., selling over 200,000 copies. A second single, "This Is the Chorus," was released in 1988. This one was a parody of the Stock, Aitken & Waterman produced hits of Rick Astley and Kylie Minogue. "This Is the Chorus" did not chart well.
