Sarcasm is a Swedish melodic and blackened death metal band formed in Uppsala, Sweden, in 1990. Born from the ashes of early extreme metal underground acts Third Storm and Embalmed, the band is known for its atmospheric, riff-heavy style that blends classic "Swedeath" intensity with the icy melodies of black metal. Despite tracking their origins to the early 1990s tape-trading scene, Sarcasm went through decades of obscurity and breakups before cementing their legacy with a prolific modern comeback.
Sarcasm plays a unique variation of Swedish extreme metal. While rooted in the traditional crunch of early death metal, they heavily integrate cosmic atmospheres, aggressive blast beats, sharp guitar leads, and harsh, blackened vocals. Fans of legendary melodic black/death metal acts like Dissection, Unanimated, Sacramentum, and Necrophobic often find appeal in Sarcasm's music.
