Artist Biography

The Sufi Music Group Hosh Neva;
"The whole life with all its aspects is a music, and the spiritual fulfillment is to bring the self into harmony with this perfect music. Hosh Neva means "beautiful melody" in Persian.
Picture "hoshneva.png" The group plays songs of various Sufi traditions of Central Asia and Anatolia, such as the Bektashi or the Mevlevi tradition. The texts are sometimes very old, such as the songs of Yunus Emre from the 13th Century. His poems have an intense nature mystic theme - when, for example, the Dervish Yunus is recognized by a yellow flower and converses with her.
But it also addresses the love of the prophets and saints, the so-called friends of God. Thus, in one song, the four great prophets of Islam are sung: Abraham - Friend of God, Moses - Word of God, Jesus - Spirit of God, Muhammad - Beloved of God.
In Sufi music, the lead vocals are often accompanied by a refrain that is repeated continuously, giving the music a very meditative character. The text may read: "Allah" (God), "Hu" (He - God), "La ilahe illallah" (there is no deity except God - there is nothing except God). On the one hand, this is invocation and praise of God, on the other hand, the caller tries to awaken the divine qualities within himself. For example, e.g. the invocation of the merciful God "ar-Rahman, ar-Rahim" to develop even a compassionate attitude.
The central message of Sufism is that the mystics of all traditions and religions have the same experience at the highest stage of the knowledge of God. There is no Islamic, Jewish, Christian or Hindu mysticism, but only the experience of the one, eternal reality. For example, Muslims and Christians play music together at Hosh Neva. Interreligious dialogue is important to the group.
The relationship between a Sufi and God most closely resembles the image of the lover and the lover. Therefore, the songs of Hosh Neva can also be called love songs.
