Artist Biography

Haruka Nakamura (b.1982) is a composer in Tokyo, Japan. As a child, Haruka learned to play piano and guitar on his own. His sound is made of sunset and season’s perfume.

Haruka first emerged in the Japanese electronic scene with the release of “Afterglow” (Schole, 2007), a split album with Akira Kosemura. It was then followed by three solo albums “grace” (Schole, 2008), “twilight” (Kitchen. Label 2010) and “MELODICA” (hydeout productions, 2013). All 4 albums are ranked as one of the most successful independent albums in recent times by a new artist in Japan. He was awarded “Singles of the Week” by iTunes Japan for the track “twilight”.
Haruka has commissioned original music for clients such as for H.P France, PARCO and fashion brands mame, evam eva and support surface. Outside of his solo works, he has released collaboration albums with Janis Crunch and AOKI,hayato. They released the albums “12 & 1 SONG” (Kitchen. Label, 2011) and “FOLKLORE” (fete musique, 2014) respectively. Haruka also performs in his experimental side project group haruka nakamura LABO. In his forthcoming 4th album “Ongaku no Aru Fuukei” (Kitchen. Label, 2014), he has recorded with the ensemble line-up of ARAKI Shin (saxophone, flute), Akira Uchida (saxophone), Rie Nemoto (violin), isao saito (drums) and CANTUS (chorus) whom he has been touring extensively in Japan since 2010.
