Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
Doc Holliday are a Southern rock band from Macon, Georgia, obviously named after Western legend Doc Holliday. Their debut album of the same name entered the top 30 Billboard charts in 1981. Their second album "Doc Holliday rides again" topped that success. The band played many shows in that time, with Black Sabbath and others. Due to the failure of their third, experimental album in 1983 and the stress of touring, the band broke up in 1983. They re-united in the 1980s. Since, they brought out more albums, and toured, mainly in Europe. Actually, the band was more from Warner Robins, Georgia an AIr Force base community outside of Macon, Georgia. The bands first album was based on the music of what they were then called Roundhouse. Playing many of the bars in the local area including the infamous Duck's Breath Saloon where one could find Chuck Level, Gregg Allman or a host of other Southern Rockers jump on stage on their day off or between gigs from Atlanta to Jacksonville. The third albums was produced by Mack who also produced an album for Queen and agreeably, was the beginning of the end for Doc Holliday.
