Artist Biography Available in: L’Estravagante is the fruit of the association of four musicians eager to share their passion for chamber music and work on a Baroque repertoire rarely tackled by ensembles with a solid experience of historically informed performance practice on period instruments.
The violinists Stefano Montanari and Stefano Rossi, the cellist Francesco Galligioni and the harpsichordist and organist Maurizio Salerno have found in this ensemble the finest expression of work carried out in common by artists who have ‘found each other’, discovering that they share those rare affinities needed for the implementation of any creative project. Although all the members of the ensemble already have extensive and internationally recognised experience as concert artists and teachers, their ‘quartet’ was formed only recently. However, it has quickly become established thanks notably to its interesting recordings of trio sonatas by Pachelbel and sonatas by Buxtehude (which won a Supersonic Award from the magazine Pizzicato) with Rodney Prada on the viola da gamba. Its concerts are also much admired for both their interpretative freshness and the originality of their musical options.
