Luv' was a Girl group from the Netherlands very successful in the 1970s mainly in Northern Europe. Their biggest hit was in 1978 with "You're The Greatest Lover" and consisted of Patty Brard, Marga Scheide and José Hoebee. The group was founded in 1976 by producer Hans van Hemert. Together with composer Piet Souer and manager Han Meijer, they set out to write "My Man" and after an audition he selected three women, the red head José Houbee, the blond Marga Scheide and the brunette Patty Brard. The song immediately becomes a hit in both Belgium and the Netherlands. In 1977 a title song is needed for the VPRO television program Waldolala and the girls of Luv' record "U.O. me" (you owe me) which becomes their next hit single. It is followed by "You're the Greatest Lover" which becomes their first number one hit single and makes them the most popular act of 1978 in the Netherlands. The success continued until early 1980. The released the albums With Luv', True Luv' and Lots of Luv' with the original line-up. Abroad they managed become successful in Switzerland, United Kingdom, Germany and France and therefore re-recorded some of their hits in Spanish which also became successful in Spain and South America. Patty Brard leaves Luv' in 1980 and is replaced by Ria Tielsch, however the new group is not able to regain their previous success and split in 1981. They released one album, Forever Yours. They reformed in 1989, with Marga being the only original member besides Diana van Berlo and Michelle Gold. Michelle was later replaced by Carina Lemoine. This incarnation of luv' only had some minor hits and two albums, For You and Sincerely Yours, and split again in 1991.The original line-up reformed in 1993 for the release of the very successful Luv' Gold album, and the released a new album, All You Need is Luv'. However, shortly thereafter they broke up again in 1996. In 2005 they made a comeback in the original line-up for an appearance at the 40 year anniversary of former manager Hans van Hemert. In May 2006, Luv' was one of the surprise acts during "Toppers in Concert" (Gerard Joling, René Froger and Gordon) in the Amsterdam ArenA and a box-set of the first four original albums was released, called Completely in Luv'. In 2012 the group disbanded.
