The Weepies are a Danish band that was formed in 1984 in Copenhagen. The band consists of Jacob Andersen (drums), Jorgen Klubien (song) and Rasmus Kærså (bass). The band plays' 80s pop with influences from soul, reggae and Latin music.
The band began as a biprojekt because its members also played with other bands like Sneakers, Moonjam and The Pack. One of the band's most kendre songs "Rain Dance" which was written for and won the music competition of the Year John (named after John Lennon), an alternative Eurovision Song Contest show on Musikcaféen in Copenhagen. The number was dedicated Janni Spies. The debut album, which came in 1985, contained besides "Rain Dance" song "Come back now" also became a true scourge. The album sold more than 70,000 copies. The group changed for a short name for the Dance Orchestra and tried English texts, but the big international breakthrough failed to materialize. The English album was followed by The Flying Carpet, which does not really caught on.
