Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
Band Members: Sven-vocals Ebbe-guitar Hocke-drums Dick-bass Sounds Like raw Swedish hardcore punk Crude S.S. first surfaced in Sweden in the summer of 1982 with their self-released demo. The "SS" was put on there because the band thought "Crude" was empty. Later they said it stood for "Society System". They began playing shows with an onslaught of various Swedish punk bands of that era, they quickly gained a name for themselves but primarily among their own community in Sweden. It wasn't until late 1983 that they reached a broader audience with the release of their eternal classic, "Who'll Survive". The EP was released on Uproar Records and never officially repressed. They fit in well with the established lot of Swedish hardcore punk of that era. Although their sound was somewhat unique and a bit different from the likes of Anti Cimex, Mob 47, Crudity, Disarm, etc. Always raw, shifting from slow and sludgey to fast and aggressive, coarse vocals and unrefined anger defined the Crude S.S. sound. Crude S.S. have definitely earned an eternal name for themselves among the international DIY hardcore punk community and have served as siginificant influence for countless bands from all corners of the globe. Very little is known about the time of their official defusion as a band but the last official compilation album that they appeared on was released in 1986, thus leading one to believe this to be the approximate time of their final days. With very little available or even existant, in terms of official releases, they are easily one of the most bootlegged bands in international hardcore punk history next to the likes of Mob 47 and Confuse (Japan). links: http://www.myspace.com/crudess
