$10,000 Gold Chain was a one-off side project headed by Mike McCready, best known as lead guitarist and founding member of Pearl Jam. The project released only one recording, a cover of the Velvet Underground's "Oh! Sweet Nuthin'" in 1996 for the soundtrack to the movie The Cable Guy. McCready also featured on the recordings of the band Mad Season, featuring the late Alice in Chains vocalist Layne Staley, who McCready had allegedly met while in rehab for heroin addiction.
