Chris Latul was one of the founders of Dutch-Moluccan band 'Massada', a very popular Moluccan group, lifting on the successful Latin sounds of Carlos Santana and adding an oriental touch.
The band started in the 60s as The Eagles and played mainly om Moluccan parties.
When the American Eagles hits began to score in the Netherlands group name was changed to Massada in 1973. In the 70s and 80s of the 20th century, the band scored big hits in the Netherlands (Latin Dance, Arumbai and Sajang E).
On the second album of Masada, Puykul Tifa, the Moluccan identity of the group better emerges. Written by Chris Latul the single Arumbai reached the dutch top ten. The album won gold.
As 'Latul' Chris brought out a solo album in 1981 and scored some hits in the early 90s as a member of 'De Groothandel' with Ferry de Groot (Ome Joop).
