1995
In February 1995 in Arnhem studio producer Edsel Camron (also known dance formation Andere Gekte) started Arnhemsgewijs . Edsel knew the three members and was well aware of their talents. He made productions for the record company Polygram at that time. They came up with the idea to produce in Dutch, which was unprecedented for that time. This idea was transferred to Benji (Benjamin Diligence), Step (Reguillio Belliot) and Lloyd (Lloyd Weser).
At first it seemed almost impossible, but when lyrics and vocals came together, the hit "Je hebt me gebruikt" a fact. The boys came up with the name Arnhemsgewijs (the way we rock in Arnhem) and released their demo to Polygram . They brought the demo turn to Mercury Records (now Universal). The company was very excited and immediately signed the band to their label.
Arnhemsgewijs stormed the charts with their hit "Je hebt me gebruikt" mid-1996 ! The song held the listeners and fans in his spell. The new fresh sound was fascinating and left much of the competition behind. The invitations for TV and radio programs were overwhelming. The hit reached the Dutch top 5. The second single, "Wie doet ons dit aan" followed shortly thereafter. In the same year Arnhemsgewijs was at the Real Hot event in De Kuip Rotterdam. For the first time they performed for more then 40,000 people
1997
In early March of this year Arnhemsgewijs launched their third single, "Ik mis jouw" followed by a mini-album "We maken geen grappen" The group rose to the top of the Dutch music industry. Many fellow artists followed in their footsteps. Arnhemsgewijs was and is still seen by many as the originators of this particular sound.
Due to troubles in the group Lloyd left the group in 1997 to pursue a solo career. Arnhemsgewijs received their first MTV Award, a Hitkrant Award and their first nomination for the Edison Award.
2013
In 2013 the original formation Benji, Step and Lloyd joined forces again and they bring the music back to its original shape . They are supported by record label Street Music Icons, which launches the group and give them the opportunity to return in the music industry.
With their new fresh sound, witty lyrics and use of various languages, especially Surinam , Arnhemsgewijs takes their fans back in time, when their sound was born and pressed their musical mark in the Netherlands . They combine the playful catchy beats with a twist thoughtful vocals. A pleasure to listen to.
These guys are the pioneers of the Dutch R & B genre and prove that music knows no boundaries . People enjoyed the album ' We do not make jokes, " and enjoy the year 2013 here still . This album is to this day is still considered one of the most innovative albums that came out and survive for almost three generations . The boys have never lost their luster on the contrary , with their experience , they will conquer the hearts of music lovers again.
