Burning Star Core is the project of C. Spencer Yeh, a Cincinnati, OH-based composer/multi-instrumentalist capable of conjuring ominous drones from his violin or subtler electronic textures. Yeh, also a member of Death Beam and the Gordy Brothers, began Burning Star Core in 1993. He released his music on his own Drone Disco label as well as on imprints like No Fun, Hanson, and Troubleman Unlimited, collaborating and sharing releases with Hototogisu, Comets on Fire, and Wolf Eyes' Aaron Dilloway along the way. Released in 2002, A Brighter Summer Day on Thinwrist was praised as one of Burning Star Core's definitive albums, along with 2007's Blood Lightning and the following year's Challenger.
