Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
The Copenhagen based, Bandapart, is a new band formed by four young musicians who individually have already influenced the sound of Danish jazz. With their debut album, Bandapart, released on ILK in 2005, they have created a sound universe of scenic dimensions. They mix up noise rock with jazz aesthetics and into a dusty, dreamy space where you will find sounds reminiscent of both Duke Ellington and Sonic Youth. The guitar and electric wurlitzer piano weave lines in and out of each other, often creating a myriad of melodies and sounds. The new repetoire, The Bandapart Preludes (not recorded yet), is a series of short, minimalistic pieces, repetitive, often dissonating with both character from distorted and airy-lyrical passages. The members of Bandapart have performed internationally with own groups, and with a.o. Paul Motian, Michael Blake, Tim Berne, Ben Street, Michael Formanek, Dave Tronzo, Peter Brötzman, Jim Black, George Garzone, Chris Cheeck, Ben Monder, Tony Malaby, John Tchicai and more...Jakob Bro - Guitar + effex Søren Kjærgaard - Wurlitzer + effex Jonas Westergaard - Bas Jeppe Gram - drums more info: www.ilkmusic.com www.soerenkjaergaard.dk
