Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
Lady Strangelove combines the minds of Brendan Shaw, (vocals, harmonica, tambourine, percussion) Azz Shaw (Bass, Keyboard, Sampler), Josh Van Looy (Guitar), and Damo Satanek (Drums) to crete an experimental style of psychedelic dance-rock, fusing influences so vast that they span everything from Pink Floyd, Santa and Jimi Hendrix to The Chemical Brotheres, The Mars Volta, The Music, and Comets on Fire. First and foremost a live band that creates a unique experience for the audience, Lady Strangelove's performances consist of non-stop music & pure adrenaline. Fusing all their material together to create one epic journey in sound & atmosphere, similar to the live ethics of a DJ spinning tunes for a dance floor, only with the added intensity of a live band, Lady Strangelove have continued to impress audiences in their home city of Adelaide, Australia. When it came time to record their debut self titled EP, Lady Strangelove took the mentality of their live shows & strived to be able to present people with a recording that best reflected their ability as a live band. Since forming in early 2005 they have supported an array of local, interstate and international bands, such as Wolf and Cub, Dappled Cities Fly, The Crayon Fields, The Temper Trap, Mountains in the Sky and Pivot, as well as being the backing band for International Artist Cody Chessnutt on his last Australian Tour at the Adelaide University Bar. Their recently recorded EP produced by Adelaide's in-demand producer Matt Hills, who recently recorded Wolf and Cub's debut album Vessels, has been causing rumblings through the local music scene. In keeping with their progressive outlook towards music, their EP consists of Rotate Parts 1, 2, 3 & 4 & Quebi Parts 1, 2 & 3; two songs which we split up into seven individual tracks but which flow together as one seamless song from start to finish, just like the live performances.
