Waldemar Henrique da Costa Pereira (Belém do Pará, February 15, 1905 - Bethlehem, March 29, 1995) was a conductor, pianist, writer and Brazilian composer. Para symbol artist, so that the town of Bethlehem has a square and a theater that bear his name.
Waldemar Henrique was the son of a descendant of Portuguese and indigenous. After losing his mother too early, went with his father to Portugal, returning to Brazil in 1918. Since then traveled through the interior of the Amazon, by which time he made contact with the elements of culture and folklore that Amazon would later be characteristic of his musical work.
