Marco Carta participated and won the first prize in the Italian talent show Amici di Maria de Filippi' from october 2007 to April 2008. On February 22, 2009 he won the first price at the prestigious music Festival of Sanremo with the song La Forza Mia. Before becoming a singer, he was working as a hairdresser in Cagliari. He lives with his uncle and aunt after the death of both his parents. In 2008 he released his debut single, "Per Sempre". The single gained popularity in Italy and peaked at #44 on the Italian FIMI chart and #18 on the Italian iTunes chart. The single was included on the album Ti Brucia, released in 2008, with songs by him and other contestants of the TV show Amici di Maria de Filippi. His debut album Ti Rincontrerò was released on June 13, 2008 and debuted #3 on the Italian charts. It sold over 40,000 copies during the first week. As of now the album has sold about 150,000 copies. In concerto is his first live cd-dvd and was released on October 3,2008. He had won the Festival of Sanremo on 21 Febbrary,2009 with the single La forza mia.
