Sputnik Stan Vol. 1: A Fistful Of Junk is a sci-fi space rock concept album by Alan Davey, the former long-time bassist of the legendary space rock band Hawkwind. Released in 2015 (with physical versions distributed globally by Cleopatra Records/Purple Pyramid in 2017), the project follows the eccentric and comedic exploits of a cosmic scrap-metal collector named Sputnik Stan.
Stan pilots a makeshift ship called the SS Garbage Can through deep space, harvesting space junk, old satellites, and orbital detritus. The narrative is told through heavy, driving basslines, bubbling synthesizers, and theatrical voice acting.
