Warhead is the debut studio album by British heavy metal band More, released in 1981 through Atlantic Records during the height of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement. The record captures the raw energy and ambition of early-’80s UK metal, combining driving riffs, melodic hooks, and hard-edged vocal performances across a set of nine tracks that reflect both classic rock and emerging metal influences.
Guitarist Kenny Cox’s technically proficient playing and Paul Mario Day’s commanding vocals help define the band’s sound on the album, which includes standout songs such as the title track Warhead, the high-octane Road Rocket and the anthemic We Are the Band. Though it did not achieve major commercial impact at the time, Warhead remains a notable example of early NWOBHM output, showcasing More’s blend of gritty heaviness and melodic sensibility and securing the album a lasting place in the genre’s history.
