I call this genre SMOKEWAVE (mostly as a joke and to relate it as a subgenre of VAPORWAVE)
but really its just plundered and edited shoegaze, nu-metal, grunge and gothic rock.
either way. I've noticed a resurgence in this kind of music. seeing things like "deftones type beat" or "early 2000s nu-metal and shoegaze nostalgia" pop up a lot recently.

decided to put this together because I too, enjoy these styles of music.
